One of a set of substantial awards in aquashaped sandstone and starfire glass, the latter enhanced with a front aluminum frame. Sandstone, as a major structural element, reinforces the impression of weight, solidity and permanence in an award. In the Savanna, the aluminum-bordered starfire rests in a sculpted sandstone cradle, a radically different geometry that provides an unusual perspective for artwork presentation. Due to the nature of sandstone, the exact thickness, color and surface texture may vary from piece to piece. Etching or colorfill on sandstone is not available.
